Structured Funds Administrator
Position Summary:The CFM Administration Team is responsible for the tracking of the funds’ investments and ensuring that the investors and portfolio managers have accurate and timely portfolio reports. The team is also deals extensively with third party administrators and custodians.
This is role is centered around the structured credit universe as a whole, similar to a hedge fund structure. The role will be working closely with an experienced portfolio management team and therefore good communication skills (verbal and written) are essential. The platform consists of 14 active European CLO’s and several legacy deals.
As the Alternative Credit Fund is focused on capturing alpha created by informational, regulatory and/or market related structural inefficiencies, the Fund’s objective is to achieve long-term growth of its assets while spreading investment risk through a combination of capital appreciation and current income while seeking to preserve capital. The Fund’s investment strategy is not market neutral and the Fund will experience volatility in down-markets due to credit exposure, although the Fund will seek to dampen the effect of down credit markets through its portfolio allocation and various hedging strategies.
Product Range Includes: CLO, ABS, Trade Receivables, CMBS, Bonds, IRS, CDS, FX Swaps.
Principal Accountabilities :Responsibilities include but are not limited to: management of several company managed CLO structures as well as single investor mandates, and multi-strategy funds.
In addition, there will also be ad-hoc requests relating to P&L, risk, investor services, compliance and finance.
Monitor daily traded cash projections
-Produce hypothetical trade results for Portfolio Manager proposed trades
-Produce detailed weekly portfolio status reports and present to Portfolio Manager. Explain changes in test results from week to week and propose portfolio improvements
-Creation and calculation of monthly internal shadow Net Asset Value
-Work with Portfolio Management team, IT, and external Middle Office provider on new technology projects
-Attend KPI meetings with Administrator and external Middle Office provider
-Identify and resolve issues relating to day to day trading activity, investor queries and service provider escalations
-Provide oversight for external Middle Office in monthly and payment date reporting; as well as review of closing waterfalls for new transactions
Personal Attributes:-Educated to degree level
-1 to 3 years’ experience in hedge fund or alternative investment manager or Trustee or CLO administration
-Relevant background, finance, economics, business or accounting
-Familiarity with Collateralized Loan Obligations and other structured finance debt types such as trade receivables, credit derivatives
-Understanding of derivative and bond settlement process
-Excellent math skills including ability to translate any technical definitions into Excel formulas
-Advanced Excel skills
-Good communication / organizational skills
-Thorough understanding of front to back organization structure
-Ability to remain calm under pressure when working to tight deadlines
-Flexible in dealing with multiple and changing requests
-Comfortable and confident in dealing with Portfolio Managers and Senior Management
-A positive and diligent attitude and good teamwork skills
-Ability to understand complex legal and technical documents
