We are working as a recruitment provider searching on our Client's behalf for a person in the following role:

Cloud DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities:

Our Digital teams are an integrated global group of over 3500 technologists and commercial thinkers, working across our offices in London, India, China, Hong Kong, the US, Canada, Poland and Mexico.
Our work includes developing new mobile apps and online experiences; using digital messaging to build the relationship with our customers; building and improving the underlying technology and security platforms; and innovating our propositions to take advantage of new innovation. This role sits within the newly formed Digital Cloud Services function. This function is driving innovation across the bank through the use of Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud offerings.

The DevOps engineers will work alongside the central Cloud Services function, Application DevOps teams and cross-functional IT teams. The engineers will be required to use their initiative to innovate to achieve maximum performance and be prepared to investigate and use new products/services offered by AWS.

Your responsibilities will include:

Work across one or more application development DevOps ‘pods’ as the Amazon Web Services (AWS) engineer
Lead innovation and R&D activities to propose new solutions to improve performance and efficiency
Build and manage cloud environments to enable application deployments
Engineer solutions on Cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure As Code methods (e.g. Terraform)
Consume and deploy centrally provided common cloud services for business unit / application DevOps teams (e.g. domain services, networking, logging.)
Consume centrally agreed base AMI’s and develop & maintain business line specific AMI’s
Ensure compliance with centrally defined cloud blueprints, design patterns and standards
Build and support continuous integration (CI), continuous delivery (CD) and continuous testing activities
Support non-functional testing of cloud services
Update support and operational documentation as required
Provide impact assessments where requested for changes proposed oncCloud services

Requirements:

Experience of building a range of AWS services including EC2, VPC, S3, Lambda, Databases (e.g. DynamoDB, RDS)
Expert understanding of DevOps principles and Infrastructure as a Code concepts and techniques
Strong understanding of CI/CD and available tools
Security and Compliance, e.g. IAM and cloud compliance/auditing/monitoring tools
Customer/stakeholder focus. Ability to build strong relationships with Cloud Services, Application DevOps, cross functional IT and global/local IT teams
Good leadership and teamwork skills - works collaboratively with DevOps application ‘pods’ to provide the digital cloud capability/skills required to deliver the service.
Operational effectiveness - delivers solutions that align to approved design patterns and security standards
Risk management effectiveness
Excellent skills in at least one of following: Python, Ruby, Java, Groovy,
Experienced in full automation and configuration management
A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
Built effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same 
A successful track record of delivering complex projects and/or programmes, utilising appropriate techniques and tools to ensure and measure success
A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
 
Essential Skills
Demonstrable Amazon Web Services experience - infrastructure build and configurations of a variety of AWS services including EC2, Lambda, S3, databases (e.g. RDS, DynamoDB) and VPC configurations
Strong knowledge of containerisation technologies, such as Docker
Demonstrable experience of Linux administration and scripting preferably Red Hat
Experience of working with Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD) and continuous testing tools
Experience working within an Agile environment
Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Python, Ruby, Java, Groovy
Server administration (Linux)
Automation scripting (using scripting languages such as Terraform, Ansible etc)
Ability to quickly acquire new skills and tools
